Which version of Linux would be best for me?

I would like to boot Linux from a usb drive on my windows 8 laptop so I don't have to uninstall windows and go through that process. My laptop is 8gb RAM and 1Tb hard drive memory, and I want to just be experimenting with Linux to kind of get the feel of how to use it because I would like to explore more in the field of IT's. So any of them that might work as a beginners version and which to use when i get a little more advanced with using it.

The answer from Open Your Windows, Is totally wrong. When people give Ubuntu and Linux Mint for their answer it tells me that they don't know the first things about Linux Distributions, They also don't know the first thing about Microsoft's W8 UEFI Secure Boot signature System,

W8 computers are locked down with the UEFI, Some Links distributions will boot up from a dv drive. providing that the UEFI bios setting are set up to boot from the dvd drive first, You will find that the system is setup to boot from the hard drive first, If you made a boot able Linux disk and booted the system up it would ignore the DV drive and boot into W8,

What you need to do is find the function key that will allow you to go into the EFI bios setting, Set the system up to boot from the USB Key drive First, Then the DV Drive Second, and the Hard Drive Third, Why you may ask? If your going to boot the system up from a USB drive on a regular basses then it will boot up faster, What actually happens is this on booting up the computer checks for the USB device, if there is nothing there, then it checks the Dv drive of a disk. lf there is not one there it will then boot from the hard drive. (get the picture)

Now for the Linux distribution that will suite you best. That like everything else in life depends on what you want to do, and what you do with your computer, I download and try out every Linux distribution there is out there This month alone I have tested ten of the latest releases I have found some new releases that are brilliant they are easy to use, they have everything a user would need. Which I would recommend to anyone. At the same time I would not recommend Ubuntu or Linux Mint to any new users,

I am running one now from a USB drive I would recommend it's called Mozillux develped by Mozilla (Firefox web browser) another one I tested out this week was RhinoLinux that is highly recommended.Zorin-os, Sparkylinux, OpenLinux, Lxld, Lxle,

From USB drive, you can use any flavor of GNU/Linux, e.g.
