Corsa Opel C problem with engine. Misfire cylinder 4 can't find problem? What could it be?

Ok so I have an 07 plate corsa. The fault code reads misfire on cylinder 4. I have changed the coil Pack and spark plugs no joy, so I took the car into my local dealership. They told me the engine head needs to be taken off to have look. So I had my local garage take the head off. Everything was cleaned out, all bolts, gasket changed, head skimmed, injectors cleaned, valves cleaned, hydraulics and they were also no signs of any cracks. They couldn't find the problem. The car seems to drive perfectly but as soon as I'm at idle it starts moving rough. Then I drive again and it's perfect. So it only misfires at idle. My question is, that if the fault code reads cylinder misfire 4 or random misfire, coz the problem couldnt be figured out by a head off job, cold it possibly be egr valve or something to with something else on the car being blocked I.e not the engine. Please help as I can't be spending anymore Un-neccassary money. What is the best thing to do

Update:

But if it was an maf or camshaft. Wouldn't it come up on the scan tool? Or not all the time. Because all it says is cylinder misfire 4

Update 2:

I had taken it to a vauxhall garage and all they tried to do is swindle me for my money. They told me it was coil pack and spark plugs even tho they had been changed. They then told me it was a problem that needs the engine head taken off. They put it on the computer and same thing came up. Cylinder four misfire. So I decided to take it too a close friend of the family to get the head off. All vauxhall want is as much money as possible.

One issue it could be - is that the exhaust gasket is broken - exhaust gasses from the adjacent cylinder get pushed and sucked across the broken gap and corrupt the mix in the affected cylinder. As speed increases there is less time for the exhaust gasses to cross and the engine fires correctly. This used to be a common fault on Series B engines for BL and for Triumph.

Mechanics these days are fitters not Mechanical Engineers. If the computer doesn't show it - they can't find it.

Hi your big mistake was taking to some other garage to get the fault fixed. if you had let the vauxhall garage do the work they would have found the misfire issue so really you only have yourself to blame.

these after market scanners only tell you some codes what they mean is what a vauxhall dealer knows as he has the software in the scanning device which relates to the actual fault.

Source(s): the old old story a little knowledge can be an expensive thing in the long term and poke and no hope is not recommended today with modern cars.

I had similar problem on Volvo many yrs ago, exact same symptoms, spend a fortune on complete engine rebuilt, one thing nobody thought to check was the camsharft, and that's what the problem turned out to be, just a slight flat spot on the exhaust lob, worth looking into.

I would be looking at the live data on the diagnostic machine. You would probably see that your issue is caused by over fuelling which is down to a faulty maf/ air flow meter the air flow readings will be fluctuating.
