Why did the Rolling Stones blame the Hells Angels for the Altamont concert incident?

i may not have the full story so I apologize if I'm wrong but they kid who they stabbed to death wasn't innocent. Wasn't he high on meth and pointing a gun at somebody? I don't support the Hells Angels for their history of racism, drug dealing, and unprovoked violence, but in this case, it seems like they saved somebody's life.

Of course that doesn't justify the fact that they planned to assassinate Mick Jagger 6 years later, but at that concert, why were they blamed for what happened?

Update:

I believe a toxicology report showed that the dead kid had meth in his system at the time of his death. I'll have to watch the video

The kid was innocent, footage clearly shows he was just standing there when they stabbed him. Also witnesses declared the Hells Angels were picking on him all day.

For all we know, he wasn't high(and we know for sure most Hells Angels were high, they kept offering Keith crank, so they were on speed basically), and he certainly wasn't pointing a gun.

The Rolling Stones never should have hired the Hells Angels in the first place. They should have known that they had a history of unprovoked violence and they aren't well known for their open mindedness concering race relations. Meredith Hunter, who was black, was at the concert with a white girl, and I can easily picture the Angels giving him a hard time about it. Hunter, who was also high, as was most of the audience, pulled the gun after a violent encounter with the Hells Angels. Then they stabbed him. I don't believe he pointed the gun at the stage to shoot Mick Jagger, so the only lives they probably saved were their own if any.

Note: Alan Passaro, the Hells Angel who was accused of stabbing Meredith Hunter, was found floating dead in a reservoir in 1985. Last I heard, the woman who was with Hunter is still in hiding to this day out of fear of the gang.

This is beyond reasoning. The Hells angels are notorious biker gangs who have no respect for anyone but themselves. They are drug runners, meth runners, trading in illegal guns, robbery, murder, extremely violent, extortion, extremely racist.. These are some nasty people and if the Rolling Stones hired them, then the rolling bares the responsibility as well. They fell they are above the Laws of the Land.

And do not list Zimmerman name with the hells angels, there are no comparisons.
