marines are not an elite branch they are the same as navy air force army and coast guard they are not elite all branches are the same.
army is the army you can have more benefits but they are the army they can see combat or they don't
marines are the marines they also have benefits but not as good as the army but only because army has a bigger budget. they can see combat or they don't
do you see?
if you don't i can make this much clearer marine corps and army both see combat they both do humanitarian missions and both get paid good benefits and unless you are somebody who likes to spend money all the time both branch benefits can last you a very long time, both also have REAL elite forces so if you want to be apart of an elite force then either join the navy or marines and then go for the navy seals and go through bud/s and try to see if you can make it through that and if you do then there you go you're a navy seal or join the army and go out for delta force or the 75th ranger regiment.
My point being is you seem to only want to go for what is the elite and both branches have elite forces within them but they both are not elite they are strong and are very good at what they do and are arguably the best at what they do but there real elite forces are deep within both branches as a whole the ENTIRE U.S military is an elite force.

Army unless you want to be tortured my a marine Sargent basic is that the army is more laid back the marines you have someone screaming on your face all day and the art in my opion is so much more exciting

i'm biased. i have two sons in the army.
i don't know about any "more elite" thing: there's plenty of achievements no matter which branch you select.
i'd do more talking to the recruiters...my sons talked to all the recruiters for all the branches, and made their own choices.
good luck.

You still get the choices in the marines it is just that you are also required to be an rifleman at the same time.
