PLEASE HELP Dog Health Question?

I have a 7 year old dachshund and he is normally a dog that likes to run around and play but today he has been very... slow I guess. He walks slow he just hangs his head down, he dont dig in circles to lay down, he is not doing very much today. And he didnt eat today. He's actinging kind of depressed. He has no physical symptoms except some gunk in his eye that's usually not there. He dont wine or whimper when we checked out all his limbs to see if they were hurt or ribs or anything. Anyone know what's wrong? Please help. He's my best friend. I can't lose him too. Oh yeah we just recently lost our other dog of 9 years. Maybe that's helpful.

Update:

Some people on here are so rude! he already has an appointment for the vet! i just wanted an idea on what it might be. to see if anyone had a similar situation to ease my nerves until we get to the vet. Stop being so rude people.

Glad you have an appointment for him with the vet. But don't think the worst just yet. Dogs can have "bad tummy" days or days when they just don't feel good, just like we do. They don't have to be throwing up or have the runs. Usually in a day or two they are back to normal. However it could be that he is depressed over the loss of your other dog. Our dog acted the same way after his sister died.

Hopefully the vet says everything is OK. Regardless of the diagnosis, it would be a good idea to pay a little extra attention to him for a while. He just needs a little time to grieve for his departed friend.

Good luck with him. (And I am sorry for your recent loss. )

Call your vet in the am and take the dog in for a checkup.

No one can tell you what is wrong with the dog, we can only guess, as we are not seeing the dog.

I am sorry your dog is sick. Please take to the vet, do not risk the dog getting any sicker.

He could be mourning the loss of his pal. But I would still call my vet.

    Good luck

Yeh, sounds like the beginning of renal failure from feeding high protein to an older dog. At age 5 the dog should be switched to the lowest protein (under 20%) food you can find. Symptoms of renal failure are loss of balance, the dog will walk next to the fence and walls, sometimes fall against them... disorientation, next what appears to be seizures with loss of bladder control then death.

If you "can't lose him", get off the damn internet, spend the small amount of money to take him to a VETERINARIAN. Idiot.

He might be reacting to the death of your other dog.
