If they were going to fire Rex Ryan, they should have done it at the end of last season and not at the start of this one. It'd be pure stupidity to fire Ryan at this point when the team is running his system. Trying to switch to a new system with just a week or so before the start of the NFL regular season would be about as stupid as Bill Polian bringing in Kerry Collins to be the starting quarterback for the Colts with only 1 week to prepare in 2011. How did that work out? Collins (a 16 year NFL veteran quarterback) fumbled the ball on the first 3 plays of the first 3 drives. That's as bad as you can possibly get. Later in the game they put in Curtis Painter (the regular backup) and he nearly pulled out the win over the Steelers after that horrible start to the game.

Rex Ryan may suck as a head coach, but he has normally had a top 5 defense every single year he's been head coach (every year but 1). He's had a top 10 defense every year he's been with the Jets.

That great defense and those 2 trips to the AFC Championship back to back I'd say are the only 2 reasons he's still employed by the Jets. Otherwise he's made a circus of the Jets.
