I would try to visit eBay for a cheap console. Because of the major fluctuation of prices and products there I can't really pick one out for you necessarily.

Craigslist. No middleman, no shipping and handling. You just have to be patoin and keep checking the listing until a good deal comes up, also 90 percent of the people on there will take lower then the asking price. You can get a ps2 for under a $100 with games on craigslist easily.
