Did I get ripped off by USPS?
Can someone explain to me how a legal sized envelope (with a makeup brush in it) shipped from Illinois to Michigan (weighing 0.8oz) costs $2.07 for shipping? And an item shipped from Illinois to California, weighing 0.4oz also costs $2.07 for shipping? And an item weighing 2.7oz shipped from Illinois to Ohio also costs $2.07 shipping?
The amount of shipping for the first two items seems absolutely ridiculous...
Thanks for all your answers! WB: It was first class parcel...does that make a difference? If so, is there any method cheaper than this?

After the first 150 miles, there is no distance pricing difference.
You realize that if you put $2.07 of gas in your tank and drove off, it would last maybe 15 miles, yes?
If you have a PayPal account, you can print USPS shipping labels for really cheap, right from inside PayPal. 3oz First Class Parcel is $1.69 -- at the counter it's $2.07 - AND: I get free tracking:

You're complaining about 2 dollar shipping to send a non-flat item across the country??
Unless you are sending a flat, letter size envelope, 2 bucks is as cheap as it gets. Doesnt matter the ounces. I think it only goes up once you are hitting 5 ounces or something.
Sending anything that isnt flat is more expensive. So no, you didnt get ripped off at all.

Cuz they do flat-rate shipping now regardless of weight ...as long as it fits in a certain sized envelope, or box..whichever. It sux now, but when u need to send something far away you'll save money..

If the envelope is more then 1/4" thick, they charge extra. How it ships also matters, for instance; bulk rate, printed matter, parchel post, first class, overnight delivery, etc.
