How many positive integers less than 20 are equal to the sum of a positive multiple of 3 and a positive multiple of 4 ?
My question is how to set the problem up?

1) 3 + 4 = 7
2) 3 + 8 = 11
3) 3 + 12 = 15
4) 3 + 16 = 19
5) 6 + 4 = 10
6) 6 + 8 = 14
7) 6 + 12 = 18
8) 9 + 4 = 13
9) 9 + 8 = 17
10) 12 + 4 = 16
11) 15 + 4 = 19 {same answer as in (4), so total is 10}
3n + 4m < 20
where n and m are positive integers

I don't see any fancy way to set up the problem
The multiples of 3 that are less than 20
are 3,6,9,12,15,18=3[1+2+...+6]=6(7)/2*3=63
The multiples of 4 that are less than 20
4,8,12,16=4[1+2+3+4]=40
So your answer is 103=63+40
