Is my cat ill? Please answer if u can?
I have cat that will be one at the end of September
We hand reared him from two weeks old as he came from a farm where his mother could not look after him
So the problem is that he is really really skinny, like you wouldn't believe how thin he is he looks starved, he eats loads though, I have also noticed that he drinks quite a lot too
He hasn't got worms or fleas as we keep them updated.
Can't take him to vets til next check up as it's to expensive and it's not ergent also there's no free clinics here
But yeh he's really thin and drinks loads
Sorry it's so long
First of we feed him a lot of different brands of food both dry and wet
Second, poodle power sorry but you don't even know me we have five cats and they are all so pampered and loved
We live somewhere quite posh and the cheapest vets is about 100 just for a check up,
Yes pets means bills but there is no point taking him when the vet will probably not do anything as he is eating and very active
I only asked this question because there is a lot of experienced people out here that know a lot about cats and may have experienced something similar
Thank you to all you helpful answer

Your cat is not fully grown until he is 2 years old and should have a massive growth spurt at 18 months. It's summer and he is burning lots of calories being active in the long days. As winter comes he will be less active and grow a thicker furry coat. I wouldn't worry if he is eating and drinking. Maybe take photos of him and see if he puts on weight before his checkup? It's hard to tell you what he should weigh but a full grown cat weighs about 8 pounds or 4 kilo minimum.

I got one of my cats from the RSPCA and she was skinny. I thought it was because she was abandoned. After a few months she hadnt put any weight on so I took her to the vets. The vets checked her over and found that some of her teeth had rotted and was In pain. After she had her teeth out she had been eating more and is looking much better. It might not be your cats teeth but you should take your cat to the vets so they can have a look :) hope this helps and hope your kitty's ok xx

He might have a thyroid issue, or a kidney problem. Or diabetes. Other than that, cats are like people, they go through stages of skinny and filling out. Young men tend to look slender around the age of 19 and fill out by the time they are 21. What do you feed him?

When you choose to take on the responsibliy of pet ownership it means vet bills. If he is so underweight but eating alot and drinking alot it can be a sign of medical problem and he needs to see a vet. No one on her can tell you what is wrong with him. He can't wait till his nexts check up you need to get him appointment and the sooner the better. Pets mean vet bills.

could be diabetes, ask your vet at next check up, if hes still eating and drinking and moving then he should be fine he might just be a naturally skinny cat, keep an eye on him make sure hes still eating and drinking, but its best to know for sure so ask about it at your next check up :))

I heard animals that drink a lot is a sign of diabetes..
My first thought was worms but you said it didn't have worms...
Maybe it's just a skinny cat?
If he/she is still active and drinking and eating I wouldn't worry to much..
