5.5 Gallon Tank and Guppies?
I want to buy a 5.5 gallon tank from petsmart.
Link:
http://www.petsmart.com/product/index.jsp?productI...
I would buy 5 or 6 guppies for it, but what are some things I would need to buy?
Such as gravel and how much?, plants, thermometer, etc. what food?
Just all the basic information for what I need for the tank and to set it up for guppies and what I need to know about guppies.
Thanks!

Guppy's in a 5G aren't the best idea. A minimum of 10 gallons is fine for at least four guppies. However if you still were planning on the purchase of the 5 gallon a betta would work. Betta fish need a minimum of 5 gallons and could be kept with a few snails or shrimp. Also be sure to cycle this aquarium.

5.5 Gallon - Get an Oscar! it would look awesome in that tank, beautiful fish - ( Joke )
a 5.5G tank is for nothing more than a Betta fish - you wouldn't want 5 or 6 guppies a tank that small. maybe 2 at the most. id just get a pretty nice Betta fish for a tank that size.
If you want 5 or 6 Guppies get a 10 G tank - that would be about the right size - For Any Tank you need a Filter Hang On Back filter would be fine , Gravel or Sand - but personally I don't think you can beat the look of Sand! amazing! and a heater, you WILL need all of this for tropical fish and its not cheap. With Guppies , they are easy to look after, as long as you keep on top of tank maintanence, but beware of mixing Males with Females - if you do this then you WILL have about 500 babies within a week lol they breed like wildfire - stick to Males only - they are more colourful anyways!
WOWZERS THUMBS DOWN AGAIN!! So obviously Guppies don't breed like crazy and you don't want a 10G tank for that many fish?? what the hell people you really don't know jack! lol everything I said is true! thumbs down are retarded

you will need a filter and an air supply keep in mind guppies reproduce quite frequently so don't be surprised if you have babies swimming around . they eat tropical fish food flakes. the tank temperature should be kept between 70 to 74 degrees. gravel for a 5.5 gallon tank 10lbs maximum plants just a few you really do not need many you should also get a cave or two for them to hide in. sometimes guppies like to hide definitely get a thermometer make sure it is a in water thermometer the ones that go on the outside of the tank are not accurate. i hope this helps.
