Guppies&Shrimp in a 5.5 Gallon tank?

I am going to buy a 5.5 gallon tank with guppies and I want to buy a mystery snail to eat away some of the algae and bacteria in the tank. How many guppies and snails could I get?

5.5 gallon is too small to fit full grown guppies and mystery snails. At most should be about 2-3 guppies and ONE mystery snail, they get very very big. If you put anymore you are stressing out the guppies and the males may attack each other to show dominance in such a small space. Mystery snail eats algae but NOT sure about bacteria. If you are talking about the bacteria required to cycle your tank, those are bacteria that you do not want to be removed because they keep your water safe for your guppies. They convert ammonia which is toxic to your fishes and convert them to nitrite and nitrate.

Source(s): Own aquariums and have one 5 gallon with only baby guppy frys [temporary before moving to a 10 gallon] and cherry shrimps, one malaysian trumpet snail.
