Monarch caterpillar care?

I have 2 monarch caterpillars, Fred and George. I collected them 2 days ago, and they are very happy and seem healthy with their milkweed.

My question is: One it bigger than the other, so I'm assuming he will make a chrysalis sooner than the other.... How do I continue to provide fresh food and clean the cage for the other one without disturbing the chrysalis?

My dad says they usually make their chrysalis on the lid of the jar, so how would I remove the top to care for the smaller one?

Thank you!

Move the little one to a new jar once the big one forms a chrysalis.

They might actually be the same age and form a chrysalis around the same time. I used to keep silk worms for a while. They go through a series of instars (shedding skin) and it has little bearing with how big they are. How big they are only depends on how much food they happen to eat as they grow up.

You could just keep them in separate jars.
