my dog got lyme disease (5 years ago) too but the thyroid problem didn't have anything to do with that. I thought my dog was going to die almost 5 years ago cause of the lyme disease and she's fine, it took two different meds to get her well but it worked. as for the thyroid meds yes, well mine is still on them. the vet checks every say 6 months but my dog's is doing what it's suppose to do. my also has liver problems. she's now 8 years old so something's working right.

It's a pain to go get meds every three months but if that's what it takes to keep her alive then yes.

you can get a second option if you want to but they might tell you the same thing.

My friend's dog needed thyroid meds after contracting Lyme Disease. Just have her thyroid levels checked periodically to see if she needs to remain on it. Good luck with your dog.

So sorry to hear this about your dog and the answer is yes it is for life as in humans, however take heart in the fact that your dog will be happy and have many years of life to come. Sorry also about the Lymes Disease and really pleased you acted fast.

Thyroid meds are a lifetime thing, reguardless if it's a dog, or a human taking the med.

Thyroid disease is one of the most common health problems we face today. From a practical standpoint, there are many ways to approach this issue. Learn here https://tr.im/lrRtb

Hypothyroidism, or underactive thyroid, is a very common problem, and there are many reasons for this, including drinking chlorinated and fluoridated water, and eating brominated flour.

Chlorine, fluoride, and bromine are all in the same family as iodine, and can displace iodine in your thyroid gland.

Secondly, many people simply aren't getting enough iodine in their diet to begin with. The amount you get from iodized salt is just barely enough to prevent you from getting a goiter.
