If the Universe has no edge or center, top or bottom - then is all this stuff a continuous thought?

    This subject keeps mind boggling.

So some people say it's finite in size but boundless. That's a fact hard to grasp. When I do, people say, look at Earth, it's also finite and you walk around it endlessly. That's true for that part, but the fact is, we can go outside Earth. The space outside Earth has also dimensions, we can go to it. And even if we could not get to it, we can see it, we can see the Moon, the Sun, the planets etc. So this begs the question, what is outside the universe if it's finite in size, boundless or not?

    I don't know.

  • No. the thoughts expressed here seem to be discontinuous.

You might like the book, "The View from the Center of the Universe" or its web site, "www.theviewfromthecenter.com" which helped me understand some of these ideas much better.

The surface of a sphere has no edge, or top or bottom, it has a center, but that center is not on the surface, it is equidistant from all points on the surface. So, the universe likely does have a center too, it is equidistant from all points in the universe (and not in our 3-D space-time). How is that for a "continuous thought"?
