Question about web design in PHP?

I'm studying out of a book but I want to start designing my own website. If I purchase a domain name what steps will I have to take to write the code for it in PHP?

    To code in php you don't need a domain name. You need an apache server.

    You can download a free apache server with php & MySQL Database to your computer (e.g. WAMP - Windows, Apache, MySQL & PHP)
