harmful insects on vegetation?

I have several young trees that have yellow leaves and they drop off. Does anyone know what might cause this? I'm also experiencing bag worms and I just cut the area out of the tree, but the yellow leaves stump me. No pun.

thanks

It could be caused by overwatering or lack of nutrients in the soil or by the bagworms....here's something about them.

It's almost impossible to determine the cause without actually examining the plant. Yellowing leaves can be caused by many things, such as: root issues, water stress, mineral nutrient deficiency, disease, bacterial/fungal infection, etc. It could be a result of stress due to the insect infestation or it could be that your tree was already weakened by an issue, reducing its ability to resist an insect infestation. You say the trees are young, did you plant a species that can tolerate your environmental conditions? There are just way too many factors to consider for anyone to give you an accurate explanation as to why your plants are in decline without actually being able to examine the tree and its environment.
