Can I still get into a good highschool with bad middle school grades?
I'm in the 8th grade now, and i've just moved to NYC. I'm trying to decide on which high schools i wanna apply for but i'm scared that i won't get into one with my middle school grades. My averages in 7th grade were..

83%
...and got a 1 on my math state exam. I'm getting a tutor to help me, but, i'm still afraid that i'm not gonna get into any high school with my grades. AND since I live in NY, they don't do zoned schools anymore. Can a public school still deny me??

Depends which part of NY you live.
My grades use to be in the 79 range and I got excepted to 1 of the high schools I picked.
All I can say is do homework on all schools you pick and if you don't like the school you go to transfer.
