What do you think of the name Amigo for a dog?
My husband wants to name it that, it is a brown Doberman pincher. I wanted to give it a German name. We have a Dalmatian named Buddy which is why he wants Amigo. What do you think when you hear it?

I can see why it would appeal, but putting that aside for a moment it would not be the easiest of names to use for training as it has three syllables.
Two syllable names work better for training, everyday use and emergency situations.
If Buddy is male and Amigo is going to be used for another male please read the following. In the Doberman same sex (male) aggression is a breed specific trait. If you are planning to purchase a b*tch, then perhaps Lexi, which means defender which is apt as the original purpose of the Doberman as a working breed was to protect human life.
While a few will mature into adults with a low strength of this trait and get along with or at least tolerate the presence of another male in the house, that is not something anyone should depend on or expect to happen. Most won’t and those that do are atypical for the breed.
The result when it all goes wrong, as it typically does is an escalation of aggression, beginning with increasing intolerance toward the presence of the dog, posturing/growling, with serious dog fights with the Doberman meaning business whenever its crosses paths with the other dog, causing injury to one or both dogs. The only way it would work would be if the two males lived separately, moved about on leads.
Contrary to the opinion of some, you cannot train a breed specific trait out of a male Doberman or remove it surgically by having the dog castrated. Take out for exercise if an owner has the right attitude and experience to handle an independently minded, powerful and dominant natured dog, it is possible to train a male Doberman to ignore the presence of other male dogs and mind its own business.
You may be lucky, but it is more likely that when your male Doberman hits puberty, the relationship between the dogs will begin to deteriorate, ending up with one having to be found a new home.
Do not take my word for it, contact breeders who produce quality Dobermans, Doberman rescue and the Doberman breed club for advice. They know the breed inside out and, want it in the right hands and will all tell you the same thing, male/male is a bad idea and very unlikely to work out in the way a prospective owner of two male dog wants.
Male/female is the best gender combination as adults to get along or at least tolerate the presence of the other dog when one is a Doberman.

I really like that name, but I also wanted to mention a couple of other things about your question. Your Doberman PINSCHER is red and rust, not brown. The other thing is that you have two male dogs, and male Dobermans ARE SAME SEX AGGRESSIVE. If you would have bought a Dobe from a reputable breeder, they would have NEVER sold you a male knowing that you already have another male dog. Mark my word.......you WILL have problems with this combination of dogs. It's not a matter of whether these two will ever fight, it's a matter of WHEN there will be bloodshed, and there WILL BE. If I were you, I would take this male puppy back to it's breeder and see if they still have a b*tch/female that you could exchange it for. I promise you that you WILL have problems with these two, and being that one of the dogs involved is a Dal, doesn't help matters any.

Sounds good!
My dogs name is Ciara derived from the Irish word chara or friend! (some people claim it's from cara meaning dark but ...)
AND she is a red and rust Doberman also! (There are ONLY FOUR ALLOWED COLORS for the Doberman. black and rust, red and rust, blue and rust, and fawn and rust)
Good Luck!
