*F2P system w/ mostly if not all cosmetic cash shop
*Perma-death, huge lose of XP or at least full-loot PvP. I'm open to other suggestions but I want REAL consequences to dying.
*Action based or 'real-time' combat. This almost always leads to a more skill based system over just a button masher.
*Tons of customization. In depth skill trees. Hate when character progression is so linear. Altho i loved FFXI and all that had was job/sub-job. But for the most part more customization in the character = better mmo.
*Voice acting - i know i shouldn't care about this, lol.. but i do. Ever since the beginner area of Age of Conan i saw how cool it could be. It really helps you get immersed in the game world imo.
*Many reasons to party, so many mmos these days have an almost total single player PvE experience. I'm even for something like what FFXI did when it first released... you could basically level to about 20 solo reasonably easy but after that if you didnt' start grouping you were in for about a 12 year grind to max level lol. Kinda hardcore, sure. But it made for a much tighter community and a place to interact w/ people if you wanted to advance.. not just quest grind.
*Speaking of ^ - No more kill __ of ___ for the millionth time. Do people even have any reason to read quests anymore in most mmos? Do i need to know that for the 10th time before lvl 20 i need to kill 12 animals because they're messing up the crops or some other junk that is totally uninteresting and uninspired. In these mmos they should just have 1 guy in the city - " go to X map and kill 10 of each type of creature then return"... i mean that's what i'm gunna be doing anyway.
*Good endgame... lots of raids w/ real strategy involved to progress.
Some of my fav. mmos so far - FFXI, Age of Conan, Realm of the Mad God, Mortal Online, Fantasy Earth Zero.
I like variety but if i had to go w/ the mmo that was closest to my ideal one... would have to be old FFXI (it has changed ALOT).

Decent visuals, an intriguing crafting system, purchasable in-game mounts, a F2P system where the things in the store are just cosmetics/boosters/perks and not requirements/unfair advantages, an intriguing story, etc.
Basically, LOTRO.

it would be animal-based where you could not only live in the wild by hunting or eating whatever food you need but you could choose the animal kind.
