Swimming language understanding?

I don't understand my swim team coach when she says the distance that we are supposed to go before taking a break.

Coaches use some of their own terminology. However, there are some basics.

When a coach plans a practice, they have three basic variables. NORMALLY (some might do it differently), the three variables are

    a) how many

    b) how far each swim is

    c) the time interval from the start of one swim to the START of the next swim.

So, a simple one, in words, would be TEN 50 YD (or meter) swims on the 1:15 (starting a new one every minute and fifteen seconds - so if it takes you 35 seconds to swim, you'll get 40 seconds of rest before you start the next one)

OR, 8 x 100 on 2 minutes, IM. So, you'll swim EIGHT 100 yard swims starting a new one every two minutes and each 100 swim will be an IM.

Does that help? You should really ask your coach or another swimmer.

There is no specific language of swimming. yes, some swimming words used. So, if are not able to understand what your coach said, ask her again. She will try to make you understand. and once you have some experience in swimming you will automatically understand all swimming terms.
