Would you paint a 2003 Dodge Dakota pick up truck with 121,300 miles?

I love my 2003 Dodge Dakota pick up. I have never had any problems with this truck. But it's dark blue paint has separated from the top coat on the hood and the cab top. I mean it is really bad. I have no desire to get a new truck because I like this one and fear I could end up with a lemon if I did get a new one. I have 121,300 miles on it and it is the small V8. It will cost me between 2500 to 3000 dollars to paint. Would any of you spend this kind of money on a truck with this many miles on it? To me it would be worth it if I could get another 100,000 miles out of it. Your thoughts please. Thank you.

That's a question only you can answer. I drive an 04 king cab dakota 4.7, with 123,000 miles. I love my truck and I'd give it a $20000 paint job becuz this little devil is centimentaly worth it to me. Love your truck and she will love you back my friend.

A paint job will not increase how long it will run well. I suggest you consider one of the franchise production paint shops like Earl Scheib or One Day who do cheaper but usually satisfactory paint work. Should be able to get it done for $500-$1000 depending on the amount of prep work needed. Good Luck

I'd be willing to bet that you can get a paint job for less than the quoted $3K as this seems excessive for only a repaint.

Go ahead and paint it. I'm assuming you have the 4.7 liter magnum. My Dakota had one and I have 150,000 miles and it runs like a champ. My friend has one with 257,000 miles and he's only had to replace a belt and a sensor on it. 4.7 magnums run forever with routine maintence.
