The longest delay for an NFL game is 16 weeks. A total of 15 games share this record. These were the games that were originally scheduled to be played in Week 2 of the 2001 NFL season, but were moved to Week 18, due to the terrorist attacks which took place on Tuesday, September 11, 2001.

Here were the 15 games, which ended up being the final regular season games played prior to the NFL realignment of 2002:

Dallas Cowboys at Detroit Lions (Lions won 15-10)

Arizona Cardinals at Washington Redskins (Redskins won 20-17)

New England Patriots at Carolina Panthers (Patriots won 38-6)

San Francisco 49ers at New Orleans Saints (49ers won 38-0)

Philadelphia Eagles at Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Eagles won 17-13)

Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers (Steelers won 28-7)

Denver Broncos at Indianapolis Colts (Colts won 29-10)

Green Bay Packers at New York Giants (Packers won 34-25)

Kansas City Chiefs at Seattle Seahawks (Seahawks won 21-18)

Cincinnati Bengals at Tennessee Titans (Bengals won 23-21)

New York Jets at Oakland Raiders (Jets won 24-22)

Atlanta Falcons at St. Louis Rams (Rams won 31-13)

Jacksonville Jaguars at Chicago Bears (Bears won 33-13)

Buffalo Bills at Miami Dolphins (Dolphins won 34-7)

Minnesota Vikings at Baltimore Ravens (Ravens won 19-3)
