My father has Dementia. On the average, how long does it take from the onset of this condition to death?

My father has Dementia. They have just move him to a Hospice like hospital.

He is at a state where he can no longer take care of himself or recognize anybody in the room.

He sleeps a lot because the level of damage to his brain has reached that level.

He fights when someone tries to help him.

On the average, how long does it take from the onset of this condition at this level to death?

Well its hard to say, but if he's on hospice that means he is in his last 6 months of life. A hospice team is like a team of professional guides, helping families navigate their way through the final months of life. The hospice team should be able to help you know, and tell you how they are going to manage the symptoms. hope this helps, I love this facebook page, they always have good words. www.facebook.com/accenthospicecare
