How do I transfer my gmail contacts to my Android phone?
I have a new Android phone. You are required to have Gmail address so I created an Gmail address and imported all my contacts from my Yahoo email address to Gmail. It was suppose to be easy from there since the phone would sync with my existing Gmail account but My contacts aren't on the phone. I have read multiple articles and re-checked the setting on the phone. I know this is a weird place to answer a question about Google but the answers I received from the Google Forum were useless so I figure I would give Yahoo Answers a try. Thanks.
I went to Settings > Google and clicked on Sync. It showed that the last sync was just a few hours ago but this time it added My Contacts from Gmail. Who knows why the sync I performed a couple of hours ago didn't work. I did add some email address to My Contacts on the phone so I hope that isn't where it pulled the information because I don't want to manually add each email address. Will do more research.
Tried info listed first Additional details and it only picked up the emails I had added to the phone's Contact List.

Press the Menu/ Settings button.> WHEN I SELECT MENU BUTTON THERE IS NO OPTION TO MERGE WITH GOOGLE
Select ‘Merge with Google’ and then confirm the action. In case you have more than one Gmail accounts then select the one you wish to use as default to host your contacts.
When everything has been successfully merged, a pop-up message will notify you.
