Atheists believe there are no deities. That is the only collective belief they share. Some may chose to believe in supernatural affairs, others may not. Personally, I don't.

I'm an atheist and I don't believe in supernatural things. When I was a christian, when I was little, I'd be scared of the dark because I always thought there would be something watching me in the dark or in the basement. Lol

  • There is one & ONLY one thing you can be sure about as regards & it isn't what they do believe in it's merely what they don't believe in: gods. Anything else is assumption.

If you want MY opinion however - no I don't believe ANYTHING is supernatural because the term is totally meaningless unless you mean 'magic' & what does THAT mean?

    i. 'Real' magic which is not actually real like Penn & Teller's trickery.

ii. Fictional magic like Harry Potter flying on a broomstick.

iii. Metaphorical magic like a 'magical sunset' which is simply physics.

(If anyone says 'the unexplained' is supernatural - ask them how they know if it's merely unexplained? - Has ANY solved mystery EVER turned out to be supernatural? No. Never ever!)

I don't believe in gods, and I don't believe in the "supernatural." This is, of course, not the same as positively believing there are no such things. In the same way, I am not obligated to believe there are no extraterrestrial beings in the universe simply because I don't believe UFO proponents. Show me a substantial body of evidence, and I'll consider it.

I believe that "supernatural" is a word that people use when they fail to understand something's nature.

    Plagues, earthquakes, eclipses, lightning, etc....

Once thought supernatural, now considered natural.

Consider how many times that's happened, probably hundreds if not thousands.

Now consider how many times something once thought natural turned out to be supernatural.

    Zero.

I'm an atheist. To me the unseen and invisible are non-existent.

The supernatural realm with all the gods and goblins is the invention of Man.

This one doesn't see anything supernatural as ever having occurred. Other might, so long as it isn't a deity, they are still atheists. There is no atheist belief system. Just one simple statement. No gods.

If the supernatural does something that effects the natural world it must be a natural phenomena so therefore it isn't supernatural.

We do not have one single standard, to which we must adhere.

(Sort of like the twenty or thirty THOUSAND different standards of the Christian belief system.)

It sort of boils down to

"Here are things which were PREVIOUSLY thought to be supernatural (Lightning, rain, fire, clouds, the change of the seasons, diseases...etc) and here are things we still do not KNOW the natural causes of ( Ghosts, Bigfoot, unidentified Flying Objects, people who believe JFK and Elvis are still alive, etc.).

Once again, Belief has nothing to do with it!

No Valid testable facts exist to show that ANYTHING supernatural exists..
