The Road Cormac McCarthy question?
Was the boy in The Road by Cormac McCarthy born in the post-apocalyptic world after whatever big event happened? Or was he born before that but just doesn't remember anything from the pre-apocalyptic world?

The boy was born in the immediate aftermath of the cataclysm. McCarthy describes how the man delivered his son by lamplight wearing kitchen gloves and how he cut the umbilical cord using kitchen scissors.

Piegoose is right! I read the book like 5 times lol I LOVED it and the movie was pretty good.
He was indeed born after the "big event".... I still wonder what it was...

He was born after. The wife didn't want to go along with the birth, she didn't want him to be born in a twisted world - but the father was for it - not that they could even stop it.
