Steve Vai vs Joe Satriani?

Who do you prefer? Any thoughts on each? Thanks.

Just sucks that Vai got whooped by The Karate Kid ( Ry Cooder played Ralph Macchio's parts) in the movie CrossRoads... lol nevermind :)

Funny story. I was watching something once, Vai was talking about when he tried out for Frank Zappa's band..He said Frank asked him to play a certain thing, and he did it, then Frank asked him to add several parts, he did it, then asked him to add more and play it backwards, Steve Vai said, at that point, no man could possibly play this piece, and told Frank, I can't do it..Frank said, I hear Linda Ronstadt is looking for a banjo picker..lol (or something to that extent) but then he hired Vai. ttyl

    I can't get into anything Vai has ever done. He's talented, but his songwriting just doesn't move me at all. Satch is great.

    *maybe that's why I hate him. He's the bad guy! Lol

    Love em both, have for many years. Something about Satriani's songwriting that I've always loved more than just about any other artist or band. Both of these guys though are out of this world and have contributed such an immense amount of music to the history of mankind. Both guys are great live and even better together...the G3 tours are amazing spectacles to watch. Once you get to level of these guys there is no comparing who is "better", at this point it's mostly just a matter of taste and opinion.

    I actually prefer Steve Vai. The emotion in his guitaring is amazing. Joe Satriani is good too, but, I personally reckon he isn't as skilled as Steve Vai. Your opinion might differ, but I can say that was very hard to choose, they're both amazing!

    Satch. I like his bluesy base more than Vai. I love For the Love of God and melodies like that but I think he often falls to much into shredding for the sake of it whereas Joe always plays to the moment.
