    Dan,

Have you looked at Royal Enfield? Their Bullet G5 is a 500cc single that weighs 412 lbs wet, is fuel injected, and gets around 85 mpg, according to them. A neighbor of mine rides one to work in Austin every day. His commute is over 35 miles one way.

I think this bike is kinda what you are looking for, brother. It is not showy, it is nostalgic. It is not a "bar hopper" or a chick magnet, it is reliable, affordable transportation.

Sounds like you want a scooter.

Kawasaki makes a 125 that fits your requirements. It would strain on the highway though.

    What's wrong with a V-Star?

Is there a reason you must stay under 400 pounds? That's whats hurting your selection. A Harley Softail has a 25" seat height and can run the highway all day long, but weighs something on the order of 700 pounds. Might be a little less, but that's close. Even an 883 Sportster can be set very low, will still run the highway all day long (if you can stand to ride it on the highway all day long) but weighs 600 pounds.

Sport bikes tend to be lighter than cruisers, but also tend to have higher seats. Of course larger engines require larger frames and weigh more with either type.

Dual sport/enduro bikes are usually lightweight, but also have fairly high seats.

    Suzuki GZ250

    27.8 Inch Seat Height

    Weight Of 331lbs

    Some Specs; http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars/motorcycles/r...

There's also the Vulcan 500 along with the Yamaha's Virago 535, only they're just a little amount over the requirements you ask for.

Buell Blast -- 360 pounds dry, 27.5" saddle, can be lowered to 25.5"

It's a 500cc single, I have heard that it has considerably more vibration than the S40.
