How to write an equation from just chemical names?

The question is: write a balanced equation when lead and phosphorus powders are added and react.

So I can tell it's a synthesis reaction but I'm not sure how to know what subscripts to put? Once I have the subscripts I can balance it from there... Could you explain to me? Thank you!

Its basic logics, they said lead and phosphorus powders, power is a solid so their subscripts would be (s) . Sometimes you gotta use common knowledge for these stuff because you won't get it directly from a text book. Hope I helped !
