What is this National Academy of Future Physicians all about?

My son said he got "nominated" -- he's just a kid in medical school, what is this all about?

I looked it up for you, it seems they work to identify high achievers in Medical School (congrats to your son!), to "encourage and mentor students who wish to devote their lives to the service of humanity as physicians, medical scientists, technologists, engineers and mathematicians."

They are a network of mentors and future doctor "apprentices". They offer free services for online social networks for future doctors and medical scientists to communicate; opportunities for students to be guided and mentored by physicians and medical students; and regular communications for parents and students on college acceptance and finances, skills acquisition, internships, leadership training, career guidance and much more.

There seems to be a lot more that they do as well, and are rolling out new programs for members fast. Their site looks very legit with all kinds of videos of nominees. They seem to be concerned about the future of medicine and providing a medium and platform for upcoming leaders in several different doctorate fields.
