Harold Macmillan criticised the Thatcher government for what he termed "What they are doing, is like selling the family silver"

He knew what a mistake it was privatising the national industries, look what we are now paying for our gas, electricity, water and rail-fares.

Even Thatcher drew the line with the Royal Mail, and I bet that in a few years time it will be owned by a foreign country.

How long before they privatise the NHS?

    God, please help us.

Damn, I invented an engine that would run off Tesco and Sainsbury plastic bags and was going to sell my patent to the Chinese and make a HUGE profit. It would have cost nothing to run at all until now! Damn this government and it's plastic bag tax!

I've got an awful feeling that most of the rural post offices will be shut in around 10 years time because they'll be unable to make a 'profit', and guess what, you'll have to post your mail at Tescos or Sainsburys in the future. You heard it from Foxy first. It's a bloody disgrace..... they should leave the mail service alone, it was never meant to make a profit in the first place when it came in under Queen Victoria.

Like Lawrence has indicated, we have not learnt our lesson. All our Utilities are run by foreign institutions and we are all at the mercy of these greedy rip-off merchants. Our Railways have become a luxury to travel on and now those "who know nothing" want to hand our Royal Mail into another Mafia like establishment.

The time is getting nearer, when we have to deliver our own letters, or stop writing altogether.

We are indeed, governed by idiots. Fact

    Have a nice day.

Royal Mail will continue whether privatised or not......though private enterprise will certainly make a better job of it.

It makes me laugh that everyone complains about the government, how useless MPs are etc, but then they want to entrust running huge organisations, like the Royal Mail, to them.......that makes no sense.....!

Still, left wingers have never been too intelligent......!

However the plastic bag issue is of serious environmental concern........playing politics with an issue such as this does you no credit....!

@ Old Grumpy.........you say we are governed by idiots, yet you want these "idiots" to run our mail service and utilities.........

    You make no sense.........!!!

Businesses, 'cause that what they are, should be run by businessmen.....not politicians.....!
