Mom died years ago; why is her birthday hell?

Mom's been gone a long time. Every year on her birthday I fall apart. I get so deep down dark depressed that I can't do anything. I try sleep and have nightmares. Then I start obsessing about my rotten father, which it was all Mom's fault she married him. Mom was my best friend. Why do I go through this every year?

A wise person told me that pain was inevitable while suffering is a choice. As I get older, and I'm 60, that saying is proven true more and more often.

This is your first step towards gathering support and insight, but don't make it your last.
