This is an odd, odd question, but please answer.?
Yesterday my friend told me something shocking, their a transgender. They describe themselves as a boy in a girls body, and they are really REALLY sad about this being so. Like hasn't cracked a smile forever since their life is being a pretend girl, how can I comfort them on this fact?

Just be a friend to your friend, they are still your friend.

I don't know if your friend asked you to use gender neutral ones, but calling him by male pronouns might help. It should make him feel like you can see through his false exterior to who he really is. The worst part (or one of them at least) about being trans is having your identity erased from existence because of your appearance.
And it will be very hard for him to smile as long as he pretends to be someone else. Will he be in danger if he lives honestly or is he just afraid? Let him know that he has nothing to be ashamed of no matter what anyone says and he can be the boy he feels like if he only tries.
