Is this knife legal to carry for self-defense in TX?

I have a friend who'd like to carry a knife for self-defense purposes and I found one that she might like, but I need to know if it's going to be legal for her to carry it. This is the knife we were looking at: http://www2.knifecenter.com/item/ONSP2/ontario-sp2...

No knife is legal to carry for "self defense". Except for assisted opening knives almost all are legal to carry though. A knife is a tool. You never call it a weapon. You can use one for self defense but that is not why you carry it. That is a fixed blade knife and must be carried openly, not concealed. I have not checked Tx. law but some States allow concealed carry of fixed blades with a permit. I think Fl. is one.

That knife is not legal to carry in Texas.

Texas has some strange knife legislation. Specifically, it is illegal to carry any knife with a blade of more than 5 inches, as well as any "dagger or bowie knife", regardless of length. This law stems from some 19th century legislation intended to stop people from dueling each other with Bowie knives... which was apparently common enough to warrant a blanket ban throughout the entire state. Since "Bowie Knife" is any knife with a "long" fixed blade, it is illegal in practice to carry pretty much any non-folding knife.

It looks more like a utility knife. You only have to find out whether 5-1/2 inches blade with one serrated edge is legal.

    OK

Well it would be more likely that you could carry tools like a box cutter if you work in a store. Perhaps a tire iron or chain with u bolts on it which you can say is for a trailer could be in your car in an easily accesible place.

Well if she carries that she is proving premeditation !

So if used it can be no defence claiming it's carried for self protection!

    Hardly a hand bag knife!
