What are your thoughts on the rule changes for the upcoming indoor season.?

Just the major change... which is:

Add USAV 11.2.2: “Encroachment into the opponent’s

court with any part(s) of the body is permitted, provided some

part of the body remains either in contact with or directly

above the center line, and there is no interference with opponents.

In addition, completely crossing the center line with the

foot, feet or hands, or encroachment with other body parts,

must not present a safety hazard to opponents.”

If you feel strongly about any other change that I didn't mention, then comment on it.

On a side note, we ALMOST got double contacts on the serve receive back.

Update:

I agree that I don't think it is a good change for younger players.

The rule does have the comment about safety so I'm thinking any time you are jumping and go under it's a fault.

Personally, I think it could be a good change for the higher level players. It allows a player to get a better angle on tight second balls.

Overall, I'm not a huge fan of the rule changes over the recent history. They are all aimed at having longer volleys, often at the expense of safety.

It will make the game more "interesting" but put our players in danger of injuries.

The only injury during my 20+ year career was caused by a "trained-under" that left me with a severe ankle sprain and took me off the court for four months!

If referees cannot protect our players until they get injured because of those changed rules, should we do something for our players?

Seeing the rule changes over the last 40 years the only conclusion I can come to is that they change the rules every year to sell rule books, not for any good reason.

It also makes it very difficult for refs that work a variety of different groups of players. It seems that every level/group like to have their own perverted rules. Probably a 'control' thing.
