Am I foolish for hesitating or patient (I am 0-2). The other guy would have cruz, julio jones, and cobb. So far, my keepers would be stafford and julius thomas and a few questionables in mjd, mcfadden.

No that's not good at all. Cobb is a great keeper, and you trade him for guys that aren't anywhere near keeper value. I think you'd much rather want a good RB and WR for Cobb instead of some average ones.
