problems with my dc jack in toshiba laptop?

Hello I have a Toshiba satellite L655-S5150 and I have been having trouble with it lately. I have had this one for almost 3yrs. the battery now won't hold a charge so I have to get a new one but can't afford the forty or so dollars for that and I have been running it off of it being plugged in. I had to get a replacement cord because the original one cracked and was fraying now I have a new cord but recently I have had to start moving the cord around to get it to read that there is a power cord plugged into it. Can anyone else tell me if they have had this issue also? thank you

it sounds like the Jack is damaged.

you should be able to get a new one and have it put in,or take it to a shop for repair.

if you can do the work yourself or know of someone who can, you can find the part online.

here is a google search for the part

    good luck
