What am I doing wrong when cooking with cast iron?

Can't seem to fry an egg without it sticking to pan, MAybe not enough grease? But I really don't want lots of grease. I have no problem with hamburgers.

    1. the seasoning of the egg frying pan is most important!! Make sure you bake it with the oil rubbed on the interior about 3 to 5 times wiping every time. I set this pan upside down on foil to catch any grease (oil) that bakes off.

    2. temperature!! Must heat only to medium low!!

3 I mist the egg fryer with oil, slip the eggs in, add a jigger of water, put on the lid, let cook for about 2 minutes then take the eggs out!

    4. MOST IMPORTANT OF ALL! do not cook any other food in your egg pan!! Not bacon, sausage, hamburgers or anything else!! And hurt anyone who does it by hitting them on the head with your again sticking egg pan!

Yes, I have enough cast iron skillets to have one for meats, one for eggs and one for gravies and a couple others deep and shallow.

You probably have no problem frying hamburgers, because there's a lot of grease in hamburgers, while there's not a lot of grease in an egg. You should use just a little bit more grease when frying an egg. If you don't want to use grease, try vegetable oil, canola oil, or butter instead.

You're going to need at least a bit of oil in the pan to not get eggs to stick. Also, it needs to be well seasoned. Also, rarely use soap to wash it and what ever you do NEVER put it in a dish washer.

Oh, also.. Get the pan pretty screamin' hot before you add anything to it. But, it still may stick..

I only own one non-stick pan, and all I use it for is to cook eggs. Everything else goes in the cast iron.

Are you soaping the pan afterwards?

Cast iron really isn't meant to be washed with anything but water.

Just add some olive oil.Eggs stick easily to cast iron vessels.
