Condo bedroom- painting over wallpaper ok or would it only look nice w paper removed first?

    The age of the home or condo has a lot to do with this. If it's an older home and there is and can be ore than one layer of wallpaper on the walls and you do start to remove it - you could be in for a big surprise, and a lot of work.

    I would recommend testing a small corner and see if you cn tell if there is more than on layer.

    Even if it is only one layer, depending on the paper, I would be inclined to say use a couple of coats of primer on it, then paint.

  • It's better to remove the wallpaper. Many times, wall paper will pull off without much work. Using hot water to soften any glue that doesn't release easily also helps. My experience with removing a border that was added onto wet plaster was awful. We ended up having to almost cut it off then patch the wall. They also sell a texture spray that can match any texture the rest of the wall has after patching.
