GTA 5 PS3 Freezing on "Loading Story Mode" Screen?

I had the same problem, I'd installed the game properly, and got to play around with it for a while, then I quit the game, then turned off my PS3. The next hour I turn on my PS3, and load up GTA 5, then I'm stuck of the "Loading Story Mode"/intro screen, for 20+ minutes which is not normal. Some user's call this the ILSOD (Infinite Loading Screen of Death). I tried re-installing but still no luck, dusting, and making sure I've got the latest PS Software Update but no luck.

What I did, was I deleted the GTA V Game Data Utility, which is basically the install data & files. You could find this on the Game section in your XMB of your PS3 (the few folders above the game disc), then I went in the folder and deleted the Game Data Utility by selecting the game, then hitting the Triangle button, the confirm delete, DON'T delete the Save Game Utility Data as you will delete your save. Once finished, put your PS3 console into Safe Mode, do this by following the steps at: https://support.us.playstation.com/app/answers/det... once safe mode is activated, select "Restore File System", then confirm it, this will restore all files and fix corrupt data without messing up your game saves and PS3 files. This should be fairly quick (depends on size of PS3 HDD), once Restore File Sytem has finished, reboot the PS3, then re-install the game again.

Note:

- Make sure you've deleted the GTA 5 Game Data Utility first

- Remember Game Data Utility NOT Saved Game Utility

- Do Not turn off your PS3 when the Restore FIle System has appeared

I don't know but I think you need to change and upgrade your ps3 hard drive before you can play gta 5 without going through the infinite loading screen problem. I'm going to buy a new hard drive and also a usb drive. I heard that this is the solution to Gta 5 infinite loading story mode screen.

My GTA 5 is freezing during single player story mode.... I get playing and within maybe 5-10 mins it will freeze but the sound is still going... I deleted it and tried to reinstall but it kept freezing during install but finally finished after 10 tries but now the game is in the"loading screen purgatory" that everyone else has...... Personally I think there are multiple reasons we get stuck in the loading screen page.... Disc read error, corrupt files, cheap hardware on some of the ps3's,...

Yea, I have a PS3 slim 120gb and have been having the same problem. Exchanged GTAV disc and this didn't work, tried multiple other games in the system and they worked, Did a full restore and had the same problem, Did a file system restore had the same problem, Tried the game in the other system and it worked. My only conclusion at this point is that the GTAV game itself has a specific problem with some PS3, mostly PS3 slims. I have sent emails to IGN, Gamespot, Gametrailers, SONY and Rockstar. No response from anyone as of yet.

The most frustrating part is Rockstar seems to be ignoring the issue and keep stating that it is being caused by a faulty disc or a faulty system. I don't know if I have my logic all wrong so if you guys can help me out with a little deduction I would be grateful.

If the game disc is at fault and I exchanged the "faulty disc" for a brand new sealed in the package game disc and it still doesn't work, how can it be the disc at error. Okay maybe its my PS3 system at fault but how can this be if EVERY OTHER GAME including digital games, disc based games and disc based games that involve pre-load data still work and the ONLY game that doesn't is Grand Theft Auto V.

My game was working great until today. By accident I ejected the disc during game play. The game won't load and i've tried deleting game data and save files..all of them on all accounts. Right now I am going to try the suggestion of restoring the PS3. I hope it works. Let us know if anything worked for you.

yesterday i tried to play gta v and puff .... my gta v gets in infinite loading screen .... then i restarted my ps3 ok still same infinite loading screen. Then i tried to re install gta v and it gta v re installation freezes in middle . WHAT CAN I DO ??

I have this same problem, I found initially loading the game in Online mode, then switching to the Storyline characters from the online character works fine. Although the mini-scenes of what the storyline characters were up to when not controlled are glitchy as hell now.
