Best Answer: please give advice on this thesis statement!?

I'm writing an argumentative essay on sex education in schools. I'm against it. My thesis is: Sex education should not be taught in schools because it will only confuse students and cause unsuitable situations. However, my reasons are: outrage in classroom, teachers aren't ready to teach sex ed, and my third paragraph is moral and religious values. Will this be ok with the thesis I have? Thanks!

I wouldn't buy it. You're making the assumption that sex ed classes are randomly assigned to teachers who may not be able to handle the subject. These days many of the classes are taught

by guest teachers who are nurses with the county health departments and they do an excellent job of providing important material at an age appropriate level to kids who may not be getting information at home. I've observed many of the classes in our district, and there have never been "unsuitable situations", whatever those are, or outrage in the classes. The kids were giggly at first, but then very eager to ask questions, some of which showed dangerous ignorance. Also, there are state standards for the subject and excellent curricular materials available.

If you want to base your thesis on your third paragraph it might pass, but the whole topic is very outdated.
