Getting health insurance, need advice?
Hi, I'm 19 years old and need help finding health insurance. I haven't had coverage in I don't even know how long. I don't have people in my life to help me figure this stuff out. I don't know what a copay or deductible is, or what copay after deductible means. I don't know what is good or bad. I didn't know these things when first buying car insurance and I got screwed because of it. Please help me, I'm so confused and lost. Could you just give me a general run down if what to look for? I need to get something that's gonna be easy on prescriptions like birth control pills and antibiotics, things of that nature.

What you need to do, is call up a good insurance broker/agent and ask for advice. Most can quote you on many companies, and also explain the pros/cons of each. Also, since guessing you bought car insurance online, then the agent could advise what you may do, or should do, so as not get screwed the next time.
Antibiotic's and birth control are not key factors, since both can be paid for reasonable w/out insurance, but you need a policy that health care, for exams, an emergency etc.
An agent can explain deductibles, co-pays, coinsurance etc that may hopefully make sense for you.

First, don't look for something that's easy on antibiotics. A 19-year-old should not need antibiotics very often, and the most common ones are very cheap to buy without using your insurance ($4 to $10). Spending hundreds of dollars more on insurance so that you can spend a few pennies less on prescriptions really doesn't make sense.

You need to speak directly with an agent so they can tailor a program that best meets your financial situation. Their are a lot of options and price can vary greatly. Look in the telephone book for insurance agents that sell health policies. good Luck
