Are you a life time smoker? Lung cancer is not something that is generally hereditary. So you are not a greater risk because your dad had it.
Beyond that, every patient and every medical group is different. If you don't like your doctor, go to another one. Go to the one your husband goes to, unless that doctor is a specialist, which may be why it is easier to get an appointment.

I worked in a clinic, and some doctors are booked more then others.Usually the better ones take longer,if its a specialist, they are usually all at least 4 weeks and longer,If you feel its an emergency, go to the ER, cause they will not only see you right away, but do a lot of testing.BUT they refer you back to the doctor you had the appointment with.and a doctors appt costs way less then going to the ER.If your xray came out negative, your DR feels, its not a emergency situation, if he thought it was, they would get you in sooner.

If it's a drs group, you usually get who's available. Your x ray was normal. What's the problem? If there's nothing wrong with you and all the drs know it, they may put off seeing you because drs happen to be busy with people who actually need to be seen.

Why don't you go to your husband's doctor, then? If they are so bad at doing business, they don't deserve your business. Switch.
