For Diploma RN nurses, are?
Are any of you diploma RN nurses out there having much difficulty finding a job? In VA, VT and NJ it was getting more difficult...... a BS degree is required in most places and doctorss office are geared to hiring Lpns or Medical assistants.....so where do I fit in now as a diploma nurse????I am really despondent over this...and I dont have the money to return to school. I was thinking of just advertising myself privately...althoug I would take a caregivers job...and what is the liability for working by myself with strange people and families???? Ihave malpractice insurance but is that enough?

Malpractice insurance should be enough. You might be able to get a job doing homecare. I met one RN who started her own business. She would go the homes of patients who needed to receive IV antibiotics but didn't need to be in the hospital and give them the antibiotics at home. It was much less expensive than having the people as inpatients at the hospital, and she did quite well financially. I think nurses who provide that kind of home care do much better than those that are doing mostly custodial care.
