Question to Christians, paraphrasing George Carlin, what is the point of prayer?

Christians always pray, be it a big problem, small problem, something they want, they pray. Suppose the prayer is answered, they say "Praise Jesus!" and life is good. Then, when a prayer goes unanswered, they say "God's will be done." Well if it's his will and he's going to do what he wants, why bother praying in the first place?

    I pay because I need to. I know he interacts with me, and helps me. But if I look at everything negatively like George Carlin did with some things, I'd probably be dead like he is. Did George Carlin know that sometimes prayers get answered?

    Which brings to mind another reason why I pray (most of the time it's not knees down and hands clasped, it's just talking to him because he listens), because an issue in my life is partially my responsibility. If I don't talk to God about it, why should I regret not getting helped by him with it?

    Prayer is an opportunity to talk to the Creator and have a relationship with God.

    James 4:8 says "Draw close to God and He will draw close to you..." We do this through prayer, personal study, and associating with people who encourage for the truth from God's word the Bible.
