Do all me hate me? How do I make male friends?

Why do all men hate me?

I'm a 20 year old female college student and I think that all men hate me. I just want to have some male friends. My female friends have male friends. They can talk to them with ease, but when I talk to them or any guy of the matter they either are pretty mean to me (not in a jokenly way), ignore me, or seem to be very bored (I would usually be the one starting the conversations and ask a few questions. I do listen to them but I can tell that they want to leave). I did had one male "friend" last semester who did respected me, made jokes with me and was vey nice to me (and I think because of that I started to like him) but "things" happened between us and (a girl who I thought was my friend) and now we aren't as close as we use to be (we still say hi and all but we don't hang out much).

Could it be because I'm ugly? I've read somewhere that guys would only talk to attractive girls. My friends and parents say that I'm very beautiful but I don't know. Any tips?
