If you care about your health, then stick to fresh whole foods in their more natural forms, and avoid all the prepackaged foods full of unhealthy refined oils, grain-flours, GMO soy/corn, crazy chemical ingredients, refined sugar, sodium, etc.

My favorite vegan/vegetarian foods are those made by Amy's. They are consistently tasty and easy to prepare--and convenient. Frozen pizzas, microwavable lunch meals and dinners, and soups--all fantastic. I also like the Morningstar Farms meat substitutes, such as the "Crumbles" and the patties--esp. the Black Bean burgers--and the chicken strips. Those are really awesome. For "dairy" foods, I prefer Almond milk "ice cream"--really delicious!--and the Tofutti line of "Better Than" products--such as "Better than Cream Cheese", which I cannot distinguish from milk-based cream cheese! Their "Sour Supreme" sour cream substitute is also excellent.

I have yet to find a really good vegetarian or vegan cheese--except for the Tofutti Better than Cream Cheese. Most vegetarian cheeses have little taste and worse "melting" for sandwiches, and some have a distinctly "chemical" overtaste that puts me off. Which is why I don't try to do vegetarian cheese--I just eat the real thing and try to buy organic/naturally made cheeses--they're more expensive, but the taste is worth it for me.

I am always happy with Silk soy milks--I prefer the unsweetened variety. They are good to cook with and non-GMO. Almost any of the vegetarian "crispy" snacks are very good and tasty, even the cheaper brands. I read the labels carefully to get those that are not made with too many processed ingredients or additives.

Not a fan of cheese i'm afraid.

Milk= Tesco soya milk, I don't like Alpro Soya as it's too flavoured with vanilla, and I'm not partial to almond.

Tofu= Cauldron beech smoked (great in "egg and bacon" sammiches!).

Meat= anything from Fry's Vegetarian or Redwood (VBites), my favourite being the fake turkey and beef pieces from redwood.

Snacks= fresh fruit, plain soya yoghurt (I prefer Provamel to Alpro Soya as It's less sweet), and any 'accidentally vegan' packaged goods such as crisps, biscuits etc.

Morning star has a lot of great products. There is also qorn, garden burger and gardein. All can be found in the vegetarian and vegan isle in stop n shop as well as trader joe's and whole foods. Trader joe's carries vegan cheeses like daiya and I assume they carry vegan butters like earth balance spread. You. Can make your own nut milks easily just look up some resipes for it. As for snacks, I don't really know any name brands for them. But there aare vegan blogs that pst recipes and snack ideas. One of my favorites is ohsheglows! Good luck!

  • As a vegetarian who cannot consume soy, I make my own veggie burgers (surprisingly quick and simple) find them and many other great vegan recipes at www.ohsheglows.com !

I still eat milk, so for cheese I usually do feta cheese (goat or sheep).

Maybe try to start the journey over again by shopping mostly in the produce department. Avoid processed foods.

This site has food reviews if that is the path you need to take.
