she was subtly giving you a hint she's not interested, buddy. if she dated his other bff. either that or she's trying to respect the ex's feelings and the feelings of the other best friend.
dont get involved with her......it might cause you so much unnecessary drama. find another girl. one that nobody knows. one that gives you an enthusiastic "yes" when you ask her out. I wouldn't want to date somebody who's already been with my friends or people I know.
