If you saw a fit and thin healthy man or woman at the pool or beach in a swimming suit and they had faded stretch marks what would you think? Would you find it socially acceptable? Or gross? What would YOU think?

I would think they worked hard enough to lose the weight that caused the stretch marks and anyone who commented on it was an insensitive bung because they don't know what it's like to have stretch marks.
